Day 3

I start this blog with the purpose of showing the evolution of my new dreads. I will probably write other bits and pieces here too as otherwise it's likely to become rather monotonous. I had my dreads put in two days ago by Kat of Dread 121. I've wanted dreads for a few years now although I've had a couple of attempts in the past I've never really stuck with it and this is the first time I've had them done professionally. The whole dreadlocking process is quite painful so it's a good idea to have someone who isn't related to you or doesn't mind causing you pain. Kat was pretty good at this although the back combing hurt as you can imagine. The whole thing took about 5 hours in total but I think it was really worth it. My dreads have been done using Knotty Boy dread wax. which is made from natural products such as beeswax and tea-tree oil. Because of this I can also wash them twice a week using a block of dread shampoo which is essentially a bar of soap. However I need to wait for a week or two first, to give the dreads time to settle. This is probably going to drive me insane though as my hair is still pretty waxy. Every day I need to try and roll most of them in order to keep them in shape. I'll probably explain more as time goes on but for now I'll leave you with my first three photos taken on Day 3.
